The name "Alluvium" reflects our soil’s rich, mineral-laden deposits, providing the perfect foundation for thriving vines. Ashley Hepworth is an award-winning Napa Valley winemaker and industry advisor dedicated to helping winemakers accelerate their production capabilities.
With over 24 years of experience in winemaking, Ashley brings her extensive knowledge and passion to help others improve their craft. Prior to the launch of AHWC, Ashley served as Winemaker at Joseph Phelps Vineyards for 15 years. During her tenure, she oversaw production of the Vineyard’s award-winning Napa Valley wines, including its flagship wine Insignia, Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Backus, as well as its Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Delice (a faux ice wine).
Ashley's approach to winemaking is simple, letting the vineyards and vintages speak for themselves to achieve quality and purity of fruit.
The 2019 vintage is elegant and complex. The best qualities of Napa are married to the spirit of Bordeaux in this 2x award winning masterpiece. Meant to be aged, this wine has all of the backbone of a polished cabernet melded with vibrant fruit and refined acidity. Dark fruit notes including blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis meld with cedar and mushroom at the mid-palate. Velvety tannins and bakers chocolate characterize an extended finish. Wonderful complexity now that will only grow with patience - an ideal collector’s wine. Coombsville is known for its cooler days and longer growing seasons, resulting in the layered and complex flavors present here.
